The vision of the Department of Epidemiology at the High Institute of Public Health is to contribute to the health of populations and well-being in Egypt and other countries, and to continue to be recognized for prominence in research, innovation in teaching and excellence in education in the field of Epidemiology.

Mission:

The Mission of the Department of Epidemiology at the High Institute of Public Health is to contribute to health promotion and disease prevention, by providing a scholarly environment for fundamentals and practice of Epidemiology. To accomplish this mission, the department focuses on the following major approaches:

• Preparation of future skilled practitioners and researchers in the field of Epidemiology by providing relevant and innovative education, research and training; through postgraduate degree programs (diploma, master and doctor).
• Community oriented multidisciplinary research toward assessing the distribution and determinants of health problems with the aim of establishing reasoned preventive measures.
• Continuous efforts to improve the epidemiological surveillance and investigation, to enhance validity and efficiency.
• To expand the scope of activities in which epidemiologic methods can be usefully applied and enhance validity and efficiency.
• Dissemination of knowledge to health professionals and the general public and providing community services.
• Providing professional services, expertise and consultancy that can be translated into sound policy and decision making.
